At The Beeches in Keston Park, we restored the character of a modest Arts and Crafts house rather than demolishing it, adding contemporary extensions to create more generous living spaces and stronger connections to the garden.
A new high-performance thermal envelope improves comfort and energy efficiency, while traditional lime render preserves the home’s original character and heritage.
Inside, old and new spaces are unified by a shared palette of dark wood and painted finishes, so the transition between them feels considered rather than abrupt. At the rear, patinated copper cladding distinguishes the new extensions, their modern detailing deliberately sympathetic to the original architecture, forming larger rooms with expansive openings that link indoors and out.
The result is a home that honours its Arts and Crafts roots while meeting the demands of contemporary family life, a balanced conversation between preservation and progression.
